Save our Land, Mother Nature is our life force!

IMG_6922Have you ever noticed how alive you feel when you’re outside in nature?

Being in nature has the power to heal our body, mind and soul.

There is plenty of evidence to prove this in the numerous studies that have been undertaken over the years. Regular doses of nature time is proven to reduce anxiety, stress and depression and improve our overall well-being.

Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, teaches us how to live in balance and harmony with the Mother Nature, the seasons and cycles of life.

Since being back home in Manchester I have a wonderful nature route that I enjoy walking around most days. I grew up in this area and have fond memories of climbing trees and running around the field playing with friends. There are now plans to build 175 houses on this land that I pass by every day and we call on the Manchester City council to refuse planning permission.

godfrey playing fieldsI enjoy connecting with nature and passing through this area leading onto the reservoir every day, it is truly beautiful. We recharge and revitalize our energies when outside in nature and this is the only remaining natural site in Abbey Hey, Gorton. Nature sustains us and keeps us alive, we must reserve and look after the nature, wildlife and our community by supporting petitions like this. We need more nature places in Manchester not houses!

We wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for nature. Nature gives off oxygen, the very essence of what we require to breathe and live. We need nature to sustain our health and well-being and right now nature needs us. All around the world rain forests and nature reserves are being destroyed because of greed and corruption. We must join together as a community and help to protect Mother Earth, she needs us now more than ever.

Connecting with the Earth and the benefits of nature time:

One of the best ways to ground and connect with the earth is to walk bare foot, whether that be on the grass or dirt. Connecting to the surface of the Earth in this way neutralizes your electrical energies improving your overall well-being and aiding in healing and repair of bodily systems preventing disease. Bare foot walking is very calming for your mind and rejuvenates your senses. You also receive a free reflexology session from Mother Earth stimulating your entire body through the acupressure points on your feet that correspond to different organs within your body bringing balance to your body, mind and Spirit. Also, soaking in the sunshine uplifts our Spirits and gives us direct natural prana that can sustain us throughout the whole day. We also absorb vitamin D from the sun which is necessary for our body and minds to be healthy.

Getting into the habit of spending time outdoors is a very healthy habit to adopt, especially when the weather is improving and the nights are lighter for longer. Get into the routine of taking a break from the hustle and bustle and give yourself time to enjoy the beauty and healing power of being in nature. Inhale the delicious scents of the plants and flowers as they bring colour and vibrancy to our environment. Take a walk through the woods or near some water. Do some gardening. Even five minutes sat in the garden is healing for you. Connect with the elements and feel the connection you have with your environment. Feel the peacefulness and Oneness of everything within and around you.

The best thing about nature is that it is free and easily accessible. What are you waiting for? There’s no time like the present… Go and get some nature time! 🙂
